The Opportunity

The Department of Human Factors and Behavioral Neurobiology at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL, invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor position beginning in August 2025. The successful candidate will join the Human Factors program, which holds full accreditation from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. We seek candidates with training in Human Factors, specifically with a focus on Aviation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish and sustain a robust research program that attracts external funding while complementing the department's ongoing research initiatives. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching interests are rooted in applied aviation contexts. Applicants must also be prepared to teach courses that address departmental needs, including but not limited to: Introduction to Human Factors, Statistical Techniques and Research Design in Psychology, Aviation Human Factors, Automation, Memory and Cognition, and Crew Station and Flight Deck Human Factors.

The Human Factors degree programs are housed in the Department of Human Factors and Behavioral Neurobiology within the College of Arts and Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach campus. The department emphasizes research across a diverse range of fields, including Psychology, Aviation, Aerospace & Transportation, Health Care, Training, Neuroscience, Ergonomics, Gaming, and Human-Computer Interaction. We offer Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in Human Factors Psychology, along with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Physiology. Faculty and students benefit from generous research lab space, co-located with faculty offices in a secure departmental suite. Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Human Factors, Applied Psychology, or a related psychology discipline. They should have a proven record of research productivity in aviation human factors, a demonstrated ability to secure external funding, and a strong commitment to teaching both graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate must also be dedicated to mentoring students at all levels-undergraduate, master's, and doctoral-in research, including guiding theses and dissertations.
