Job Summary

CenterPoint Energy is seeking a meticulous and highly skilled Art Director to play a crucial role in bringing our brand to life across various platforms. The ideal candidate is a master visual storyteller, who possesses a strong understanding of design principles, exceptional attention to detail, and proven proficiency in preparing and executing design files for both digital and print production.

This role requires a proactive and organized individual who can work efficiently with internal and external clients and within established brand guidelines to produce and ensure the consistent, timely and accurate delivery of high-quality visual assets. A working knowledge of HTML programming will be beneficial for digital production tasks.

Essential Functions



  • Visual Storytelling & Concept Development:

    • Develop and articulate compelling visual narratives that align with the company's brand messaging, marketing objectives, and target audience
    • Lead or participate in brainstorming sessions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate innovative visual concepts
    • Stay abreast of current design trends, cultural shifts, and emerging technologies to ensure our visual communication remains fresh and impactful


  • Brand Management & Visual Identity:

    • Champion and enforce the company's visual brand guidelines across all platforms and materials
    • Ensure brand consistency in typography, color palettes, imagery, and overall visual style
    • Contribute to the evolution and refinement of the brand's visual identity as needed
    • Collaborate with marketing, communications and other internal teams to develop visually cohesive campaigns and initiatives


  • Design Execution & Oversight:

    • Oversee the creation of a wide range of visual assets, including website visuals, social media content, marketing collateral (print and digital), presentations, video graphics, and more
    • Provide constructive feedback and ensure the quality and effectiveness of all visual deliverables to team members, external agencies and others
    • Manage project timelines and budgets effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope


  • Web & Digital Design Understanding:

    • Possess a working knowledge of HTML programming to understand the technical feasibility and limitations of web design concepts
    • Collaborate effectively with web developers to ensure seamless integration of visual designs into digital platforms and communication methods
    • Understand principles of responsive design and user experience (UX) as they relate to visual presentation
    • Stay informed about best practices in web design and digital accessibility


  • Team Leadership & Collaboration:

    • Foster a collaborative and creative environment within the design team
    • Effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders at all levels
    • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams





Education Description




  • Requires a bachelor'sdegreein Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, or a related field from an accredited college or university.





Experience




  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a graphic design role


  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Dreamweaver) and Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of HTML programming and understanding of web design principles
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual storytelling skills, brand application, and a diverse range of design projects.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into compelling visual solutions
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • A keen eye for detail and a passion for high-quality design
  • Experience working with and managing external vendors and agencies is a plus

Compensation: $63,461.60 to $95,192.40 Annually

CenterPoint Energy is required by Minnesota law to provide a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum starting compensation range at the time of posting for the opportunity. This annual compensation range is specific to Minnesota and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
