The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented intern to support our Zero Emissions Technologies Squad. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Roche's 10-Year Ambition to significantly reduce our environmental impact. As an intern, you will support the ZE Technology Squad in conducting a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) analysis and an installed-cost per kilowatt (kW) analysis for emerging zero emission technologies. Your work will be critical in evaluating and advancing technologies that can help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Examples of tasks may include:

  • Collaborate with the ZE Technology Squad to identify and evaluate emerging zero emission technologies.

  • Conduct comprehensive Technology Readiness Level (TRL) analyses to assess the development stage and commercial readiness of various technologies.

  • Perform installed-cost per kilowatt (kW) analyses to determine the economic feasibility of the identified technologies.

  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing your findings, including both technical and financial evaluations.

  • Present your findings to the ZE Technology Squad and other stakeholders effectively.

  • Assist in developing strategies for the implementation of zero emission technologies within Roche operations.

  • Contribute to meetings, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional collaborations aimed at sustainability and innovation.

Location: South San Francisco

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Master's or MBA studies at a university, preferably in the field of building sciences, finance, engineering, or sustainability within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months and getting to know the pharmaceutical industry.

Furthermore you have:

  • An understanding of building systems, including heating ventilation, air conditioning, renewable energy systems, energy storage systems, and other zero emission technologies

  • Familiarity and experience with Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and cost analysis methodologies.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct both qualitative and quantitative analyses.

  • Passion about sustainability and a strong interest in zero emission technologies.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.

Technical details:

The start date for the internship is between 1st and 16th of July 2025

The expected hourly rate range for this position based on the primary location for this position of South San Francisco is $23 - $40. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Relocation benefits are not eligible for this position.
