Your Impact Starts the Day You Do! What We Need: We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings - Operations team at Gunlocke in Wayland, NY. This role is ideal for a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about optimizing processes to enhance efficiency and quality. What You Will Do: As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will play a key role in improving and maintaining our production processes. Your responsibilities will include: Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve work-in-process issues to minimize production delays and ensure product quality. Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for manufacturing process improvements and implement modifications to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Equipment Utilization: Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements to maximize utilization and effectiveness. Technical Design & Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create, modify, and update manufacturing layouts, tooling designs, and process schematics. Process Automation: Support the implementation of automated manufacturing solutions, including robotics, PLC programming, and smart manufacturing techniques. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with fellow engineers, production teams, and quality control personnel to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges. Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all manufacturing processes align with company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices. What You Have: To succeed in this role, you should bring: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related field). Experience: A minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (internships and co-ops will be considered). Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for manufacturing layouts, tooling design, and process visualization. Experience with process automation, including PLC programming, robotics integration, and smart manufacturing technologies. Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve production challenges. Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, including: RCI (Rapid Continuous Improvement) 3P (Production Preparation Process) Value Stream Mapping Statistical Analysis for process improvement Why Join HNI?
