Arizona State Museum (ASM) is seeking an Application Developer and Administrator (Applications Development Programmer Analyst I) to manage the applications and databases used by the Collections Division and ASM Mandated Programs. The Arizona Antiquities Act (A.R.S. *41-841 et seq.) requires ASM to maintain these systems to meet state, federal, and museum professional standards as a repository. The successful candidate will maintain Quickbase applications that serve as the primary database system for ASM Mandated Programs. In addition, the successful candidate will maintain the collections catalog system, develop and implement improvements to the system, and oversee the migration of legacy data to the Axiell EMu platform. The incumbent will also serve as the dedicated vendor liaison.

This position is 100% on site.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Application Development and Management
    • Participate in the administration of existing Arizona State Museum applications and databases to support state mandated data management and business processes with direction from supervisor.
    • Participate in building reports and dashboards for end-users.
    • Assist with Integration of QuickBase and Axiell EMu with other systems and tools to ensure seamless data flow and communication in line with project deadlines.
    • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of workflows and automation solutions within QuickBase and EMu to optimize processes and improve data management with direction from supervisor.
    • Provide support by debugging issues and prioritizing and completing enhancement requests.
  • Quality Assurance and Documentation
    • Support project supervisor and museum staff in testing and quality assurance activities related to QuickBase and EMu applications.
    • Maintain documentation of museum applications, including technical design specifications, user guides, and change logs in accordance with standards and procedures defined by project supervisor.
  • System Access
    • Train and support end-users on QuickBase and EMu applications and functionality to ensure the successful adoption of the app with direction from project supervisors.
    • Provide information to users on QuickBase and EMu features.
    • Provide access to QuickBase and EMu applications, assigning appropriate permissions and roles to users.
  • Operations/Security
    • Monitor and maintain availability, performance and security of Collections Division software and related applications in accordance with UA policies and under supervision of museum staff.
    • Maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with UA policies and under supervision of museum staff.
  • Site Maintenance
    • Coordinate with vendors and Campus IT to respond to security breaches, service interruptions, and other critical situations to re-establish database functionality with project manager supervision.
    • Troubleshoot and resolves bugs and user errors.
    • Apply system updates and configuration changes for Collections Division databases with guidance from supervisor, vendors, and Campus IT.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Knowledge of API and Cloud Integration.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, XML, JSON, C#, Python, and/or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of formulas, relational databases, and custom reports.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and Security for Database Systems (e.g., PCI compliance).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and manage multiple and diverse records-related projects to completion.
  • Exceptional team building, multi-tasking, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to create personal relationships and communicate well with all individuals and groups.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of relevant database experience (QuickBase, EMu, Authorize.net, Honeycode, PastPerfect, Zoho, Airtable, Microsoft Power BI, etc.).
  • Experience with user interface and experience, relational databases, data management, and integration of databases with other applications.
  • Experience with User Interface design.
  • Experience with Arizona State Museum databases systems.
  • Experience with Arizona State Museum Mandated Programs review and processing procedures.
