Overview

Job Purpose

ICE NGX, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, provides electronic trading, central counterparty clearing and data services to the North American natural gas and electricity markets.

ICE NGX offers a variety of products across commodities to over 250 companies throughout Canada and the US. ICE NGX's clearing-supported trading model provides an environment in which counter parties can minimize risk while improving price discovery and facilitate back-office processes.

This role will assist the Market Operations group handle the scheduling of physical traded natural gas and power and confirms delivery on ICE NGX hubs. To ensure firm delivery for all ICE NGX transactions, unique backstopping procedures are used in the event of a delivery failure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage nominations, confirmations, imbalances and all physical transactions to the applicable natural gas pipelines and power markets.
  • Monitor pipeline bulletins and communicate any maintenance, OFOs and critical information that could impact the flow of gas.
  • Provide support to internal teams: including assisting accounting with invoice reconciliation and partnering with the marketing team to assist with clearing members' request.
  • Monitor the ICE NGX products on the ICE trading system and day-to-day market trading activity.
  • Perform weekend on call and provide backup when other Market Operators are out.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clearing members and pipeline representatives.
  • Look to continually improve process and procedures through creating and updating process manuals.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in physical natural gas control or natural gas operations
  • Working knowledge or training in the natural gas industry, specifically in the area of physical natural gas scheduling, gas control, and pipeline nominations
  • Analytical and organizational business-oriented skill set
  • Excellent interpersonal and telephone customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and act independently as required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel, MS Word and MS Access
  • Available for shift, weekend and on call working hours
