At StandardAero, we're dedicated to solving the aviation industry's most complex challenges with ingenuity, quality, and expertise. StandardAero Augusta is a Business Aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) facility, specialized to support an extensive range of aircraft models, including renowned brands such as Falcon, Hawker, Challenger, Gulfstream, and Embraer. With a significant 80,500 sq ft expansion opening in August 2025, we're doubling our footprint at AGS. Our facility focuses on 22 models of aircraft on the Airframe side, while our Engine Shop performs comprehensive overhauls on Honeywell HTF7000 and TFE731 engines, APUs (36-100, 36-150), and performs diagnostics in our state-of-the-art Test Cells.

As a SkillBridge Engine Mechanic Trainee , you'll maintain, repair, and overhaul aircraft engines, modules, components and accessories to assure compliance with established company standards, contractual obligations and airworthiness regulatory requirements. In this role you will perform technical troubleshooting and cross train in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.

What You'll Do



  • Follow all required standards in the performance of assigned work displaying appropriate competencies in accordance with FAA Regulations, OEM manuals, and related materials.
  • Conduct necessary troubleshooting and/or repair (either on or off wing) on turbine engines.
  • Disassembly and assembly of various models of turbine engines according to sequence utilizing aircraft tools, balance machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and other equipment for repair and/or overhaul.
  • Receive engine parts to conduct inspections using precision measuring tools in order to detect physical defects such as cracks, burns, foreign object damages, proper screws and structure deviations.
  • Evaluates engine parts to determine which parts are repairable or unrepairable; refers to micrometers and other precision-measurement tests to determine further routing to other destinations or to scrap parts.
  • Inspect aircraft engine parts to determine and/or perform NDT requirements.
  • Utilizes applicable database system in order to retrieve information regarding parts inventory, manufacturing models, serial numbers, and/or other pertinent information to ensure proper documentation.
  • Refer to technical publications, specification sheets and/or other regulatory requirements in order to ensure that all tasks have been completed in proper sequence and required signed-off.


DoD SkillBridge Eligibility Requirements:



  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Must meet all aforementioned eligibility requirements as outlined above
  • Ability to attain FAA A&P license within 1 year of hire.
  • Computer literacy skills are required, as well as the ability to read, interpret and understand technical manuals, micrometers and other precision-measuring instruments.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous engine maintenance experience in the aerospace field on turbine engines; Honeywell, Rolls Royce and/or Pratt & Whitney experience
  • Valid FAA A&P licenses

This is an unpaid fellowship through theDepartment of Defense (DoD)SkillBridgeProgram.The candidate(s) selected for this role will remain an employee of the DoD and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoD. The individual(s) selected will not receive compensation or benefits from StandardAero and will not be an employee, agent, or contractor of StandardAero.
