Video: What We Do POSITION SUMMARY: Internship for individuals enrolled in a precisions manufacturing program or equivalent. Will be responsible for machining new and repaired engine components and working under the supervision of a higher skilled Machinist. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setup and operation of manual mills and lathes
- Setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes
- Machining of metals and plasma/flame spray coatings
- Measurement of all machined features
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
- Communicate with operators from other shifts.
- Maintain and secure work tools.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Perform back-up for assembly line.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be enrolled in a precision machining program or equivalent
- Basic reading, writing, and some advanced arithmetic skills required
- Completed basic lathe training for safe operation of equipment
- Experience using one or more of the following tools: lathe, milling machine, drill press, and vertical/horizontal cut off saw.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create blueprints and schematics.
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 30 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and steel toe boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
