Job Summary

Job Description

Responsible for performance of Electrical Testing and Maintenance activities, as assigned by the Electrical Foreman, including inspections, testing, repairs, rework, modifications, and housekeeping of all Electrical equipment and components; and perform such duties as:

1. Performing testing and maintenance activities on Electrical equipment and components, including troubleshooting and data evaluation and the disassembly, rework, repair, assembly, alignment, inspection and testing required to ensure the continued and reliable operation of all Electrical equipment and components;

2. Recording and logging the results of performing Electrical Maintenance and testing activities on all Electrical equipment, such as "as found" and "as left" equipment and component conditions, corrective actions and settings in addition to parts, test equipment, labor and other resources such as materials used in the performance of assigned maintenance and testing activities;

3. Verifying that adequate and required precautions have been taken prior to initiating a maintenance or testing activity, such precautions would include tagged electrical and mechanical devices, establishment of radiation barriers and cleanliness areas, and other checks to ensure that maintenance and testing is being initiated in accordance with administrative and technical procedure requirements and promulgate safety criteria;

4. Providing on-the-job training in the proper use of tools, test equipment and procedures to ensure compliance with plant-specific and industry accepted standards of performance, to Electrical Apprentice and Journeyman who are not qualified on the maintenance or testing activities being performed;

5. Providing Electrical support to other departments and support services, as requested;

6. Interpreting work orders, drawings, sketches, blueprints, data, etc.

7. Reporting abnormal conditions observed or encountered, such as abnormal operating conditions, safety conditions and violations of security procedures;

8. Assisting in the development, correction, and validation of station procedures and tests;

9. Performing work independently in those areas of higher classification, when qualified in accordance with Electrical Maintenance Qualification;

10. Providing direct assistance to the Operations Department or other responsible groups as required under emergency conditions;

11. Performing similar or less skilled duties, as assigned; and

12. Working with employees in higher classifications and perform other duties in accordance with the Section of the Foreword to the Job Manual entitled "Duties".

Qualifications

Must meet the Company's requirements as to General Qualifications, in accordance with the Section of the Foreword of the Job Manual entitled "General Qualifications", and, in addition:

1. Must have satisfactorily completed an Electrical Apprentice Program, or the equivalent;

2. Must have a thorough working knowledge of:

a. Applied electricity and electronics including A.C. and D.C. electrical circuits, machinery, measurements and calculations;

b. The layout, construction, functions and operation of the electrical equipment and circuit connections of the Station;

c. The electrical maintenance, repair and construction procedures and practices of the Station;

d. Safe rigging and scaffolding practices and the use and care of tackle hoists and ladders required in the work;

e. The rules, safety practices and procedures for clearing and tagging out electrical apparatus for the protection of personnel and equipment; and

f. The practices, principles of operation and proper application of equipment, as prescribed by the Company, for safety, First Aid and fire prevention;

3. Must achieve within four (4) years of entry into Electrical Maintenance and maintain qualifications in the following areas:

a. Indoctrination, or equivalent;

b. Cables, conduit and terminations, or equivalent;

c. Motors and Generators, or equivalent;

d. Motor Controllers, or equivalent;

e. Transformers and Busses, or equivalent;

f. Batteries, or equivalent;

g. Circuit breakers, or equivalent;

h. Circuit Board repair, or equivalent.

4. Must be able to:

a. Work from drawings, circuit diagrams and specifications;

b. Diagnose trouble and take proper corrective steps; and

c. Follow the procedures as prescribed by the Company or derived therefrom for the safe operation of the Station;

5. Must be certified to operate equipment such as fork lifts and cranes required in the work;

6. Must satisfactorily progress in and complete the prescribed training courses required by the Company or any regulatory agencies;

7. Must have the ability to receive, interpret and pass on orders and instructions in a manner that will maintain harmony and safety and obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results from individuals assigned to the work; and

8. Must possess:

a. Ability to be flexible, accountable and responsible;

b. Good manual dexterity;

c. Normal color perception;

d. Normal or corrected vision; and

e. A cooperative temperament, be able to obtain and maintain harmony and cooperation with fellow employees and others whom work must be coordinated with and effectively work under pressure.

9. Must successfully complete, or have successfully completed Edison Electric Institute (EEI) MASS testing.
