Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
The primary responsibility of the Community Outreach Director (COD) at the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health (LWBIWH) is to establish annual fundraising goals and strategies that align with the mission of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC). The COD will develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan, as well as plan and organize fundraising events. In collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and Senior Directors (SD) of LWBIWH, the COD will focus on strengthening community relationships and fostering meaningful community engagement. The COD will set annual goals and objectives, provide regular progress updates, and work to enhance community relations and involvement. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of LWBIWH and is based in Lubbock, TX.
  • Create a team environment, motivating team members and cultivating productive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead with the TTUHSC shared values of kindhearted, integrity, one team, visionary and beyond service.
  • Consult, Coordinate, implement, oversee and attend community events to represent the LWBIWH and Hospital partner projects.
  • Serve as the liaison for all collaborative activities and initiatives between the LWBIWH and health care partners.
  • Coordinate and oversee activities of the LWBIWH Community Advisory Board.
  • Work closely with the ED and SD of the LWBIWH as a consultant on all institute programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Serve as a mentor to new hires in the LWBIWH Institute.
  • This position qualifies to work remotely. New employees will have a 90-day probationary period, at which time remote work will be discussed.
  • Follow all TTUS and TTUHSC Operating, IT and Safety policies and complete all trainings as required.
  • Travel as needed.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
