Southwest Virginia Community College seeks an experienced Marketing and Communications Specialist to drive our institutional marketing initiatives and lead-generation efforts for academic and workforce programs. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, this role combines creative expertise with a data-driven strategy to elevate our college's presence and attract prospective students to our vibrant campus.
Key Responsibilities: The Marketing and Communications Specialist develops and executes comprehensive marketing campaigns across multiple channels, creating compelling content that resonates with prospective students and stakeholders. Working closely with the Director of Strategic Communications, this position plays a vital role in shaping our institution's narrative and driving enrollment growth.
This position requires a 12-month probationary period for both new hires and transfers.

This is an in-person position, not a remote position.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery of digital creative tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Affinity software, professional video editing platforms, professional still/video cameras, lighting, and sound equipment. The candidate must have extensive experience in digital advertising and analytical platforms such as Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads and Marketing Platforms. They will leverage their skills to produce engaging content across web, email, social media, short-form video, print, and digital platforms, ensuring all materials align with our brand identity and institutional goals.
This role requires a strategic thinker who can:
* Transform complex institutional messages into compelling, audience-focused content
* Collaborate effectively with the Institutional Advancement team, admissions/recruitment teams, and faculty
* Analyze marketing performance data to optimize campaigns and engagement strategies
* Adapt communication approaches to meet evolving student needs and preferences
* Navigate the unique opportunities of marketing in a close-knit, rural college environment
