Outreach and Programming Coordinator - Office of Global Services

Requirements

The Outreach and Programming Coordinator (OPC), Office of Global Services - Georgetown University provides general administrative and logistical support for all functions related to international student services (ISS), coordinates the clerical functions of the student workers, and plans and facilitates programming and events for international students. The Office of Global Services (OGS) serves over 3,600 international students and scholars who study, conduct research, and teach at Georgetown as well as those students who remain in the United States post-graduation to gain practical work experience.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Orientation/New Student On-Boarding Coordination: With the help of student worker(s) and a cohort of volunteer international student ambassadors, the OPC supports new student onboarding for the fall and spring semesters. The position reviews and edits existing online orientation modules in Canvas and prepares the International Student Orientation course in Canvas for each upcoming semester. The OPC organizes the in-person Immigration Sessions and welcome events, distributes communications to new students and hosts webinars in the months leading up to arrival, and answers student questions regarding life at Georgetown and in DC as an international student.
  • Programming and Events: The OPC organizes and facilitates virtual and in-person immigration, academic, social, and cultural events and webinars to support current international students.
  • Immigration Document Issuance: The OPC works closely with the incoming international student OGS team to follow established processes for the issuance and tracking of I-20/DS-2019 Forms for over 900 initial entry, change of level, and transfer students. The position also reviews post-arrival documents for accuracy in advance of SEVIS registration. A very basic understanding of F-1/J-1 regulations is required to perform this function.
  • General Administrative Support: The OPC provides general administrative and logistical support for all functions in International Student Services (IS) unit within the Office of Global Services and coordinates the clerical functions of the student workers.


Work Interactions

The OPC reports directly to the Associate Director (AD) for International Student Services on all student immigration issues and reports indirectly to the Director of OGS for all logistical / budgetary matters related to programming and events. The incumbent works closely with the incoming international student OGS team and hires, supervises, and schedules student workers. To coordinate the in-person Immigration Sessions at the start of each semester, the OPC works closely with campus partners to avoid overlap and ensure clear communications with students and related offices/programs at the University. The position also provides administrative support for all International Student Services and International Scholar Services staff members, and as such, is indirectly accountable to all full-time staff. The OPC supervises student workers that support both teams. The position actively supports the acculturation of international students at Georgetown University.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Prior strong customer service/student services/student affairs focus and interest in working with international students and demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Must have U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence to comply with the Department of Homeland Security Designated School Official requirements
  • Experience working with event planning for large groups
  • Evidence of efficient and effective problem-solving and program management skills as well as the ability to express him/herself clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing are essential
  • Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
  • Possess organizational skills to track and implement varied bodies of knowledge and functions and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and excellent interpersonal skills

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
