PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Billing Manager is responsible for the oversight and direct supervision of billing for all transplant programs. The manager ensures that daily functions are properly staffed to accommodate all necessary billing and billing follow-up needs. The manager is responsible for ensuring that staff is efficient and professional. The Billing Manager monitors billing quality, completeness, and accuracy. The Billing Manager ensures that Medicare cost reporting activities are monitored, current, and complete. The billing manager is the department's time keeper and monitors transplant time studies for staff, physicians and purchased salary departments. The transplant billing manager is responsible for working with contract management to ensure transplant contracts are favorable, up to date, and match the contractual tables in Epic. The billing manager is responsible for ensuring the transplant department is compliant with Medicare Cost Reporting practices and terms and conditions of various contractual agreements.

Job Description

CORE FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

* Assigns and delegates work assignments to Transplant Charge Hold Coordinators
* Runs daily, weekly, and monthly Epic reports for transplant Billing
* Works with the CBO, PB/PB, insurance verification, and contracting teams to resolve billing errors
* Insures that all required Epic documentation for billing is complete and accurate
* Monitors and performs quality assurance on billing work queues and monthly Medicare Cost Report for hospital and professional billing charges
* Facilitates billing for Kidney Paired Exchanges as the donor and recipient transplant center
* Manages department invoices and requests for payments for third party vendors and donor billing
* Identifies operational issues and communication with Transplant Associate Administrator to assure resolutions
* Identifies staff training needs and works to facilitate training sessions and provides ongoing education
* Orientation of new staff
* Hiring, management, discipline, and termination of Transplant Charge Hold Coordinators

OTHER DUTIES:

Bachelor's degree required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
3+ years' experience working in hospital or professional billing, preferably with direct managerial and transplant billing experience.
