Are you interested in helping the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community understand how space systems impact their multi-domain missions?

We are seeking a Section Supervisor to provide leadership, mentoring, and career development to 5-7 individual contributors in the Threats and Tactics Section (SAP-003) of the Space Control Systems (SAP) Group. The Threats and Tactics Section uses intelligence and engineering expertise to evaluate the space threats to the United States, providing reports, models, and engineering judgement to our sponsors for current, emerging, and potential new threats in space. Additionally, the Threats and Tactics Section supports the development and assessments of blue and red tactics.

As a section supervisor you will ...

  • Be responsible for the career development and performance coaching of the section staff, including completing performance assessments and helping set expectations for staff
  • Provide oversight and technical direction in the area of intelligence analysis, modeling of space threats
  • Execute and support technical tasks on various programs and efforts
  • Cultivate an environment of cooperation, accountability, and healthy candor discussion
  • Lead strategic planning for section and support group strategic planning
  • Work with Group Supervisor in coordinating work assignments of the section
  • Build strategic relationships internal and external to APL related to threat analysis and engineering judgement of adversarial space systems
  • Assist with sponsor engagement and program development in the Space Exploration Sector
  • Support proposal development and writing
  • Review formal documentation for technical content and appropriate markings/formats
  • Write staff reclassification letters, supporting staff recognition for career growth

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a BS degree in STEM Field
  • Have 5+ years of experience working in National Security Space
  • Have experience in analyzing intelligence and deriving adversary intent
  • Have strong oral and written communications skills, especially in intelligence community
  • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation, which may include a CI polygraph, and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship and willingness to take a CI polygraph.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a MS or Ph.D. in STEM fields
  • Have 10+ years of experience working in National Security Space
  • Have experience in line management or project management
  • Have experience with sponsor engagement for National Security Space Program Areas
  • Have an up-to-date CI polygraph
  • Have current or previous SAP clearances in relevant areas

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
