Job Description Summary: Achieves membership and revenue goals (currently near $300 million annually) by selling and renewing all product lines to small groups and individual segments, via an independent broker channel throughout an assigned territory spanning two States.
Job Description
- Sells all product lines to achieve or exceed annual membership and revenue goals.
- Performs all renewal activity including quotes, optional benefits, and follow-up of group renewals to achieve or exceed membership and revenue goals.
- Trains agents on new systems (Blue Renew, Blue Direct, and Blue Q).
- Serves as team lead with Sr Account Managers and Account Managers to clearly communicate plan details and to ensure smooth plan implementation.
- Effectively manages broker/consultant network of approximately 1000 agents.
- Holds group meetings and makes presentations as necessary.
- Negotiates rates with Underwriting, brokers, and groups.
- Collects competitive data for Market Research and makes product recommendations based upon market demand.
- Manages Ancillary product sales process for Territory for Dental. Life, and Voluntary lines in addition to heath products
- Primary point of contact with Member Services and New Business Unit regarding issues with new group set up and billing.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or other relevant academic discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 years demonstrated effective sales success with a BCBS plan or with a commercial insurance carrier, and experience selling through a broker network
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Knowledge of insurance industry including funding mechanisms, underwriting, and rate development.
- This job requires the acquisition of a life and health insurance sales license within 45 days of hire.
