The Treatment Plant Design Team is responsible for: 1) the design of water treatment plant facilities with an emphasis on process and mechanical design and 2) providing technical support in the fields of health and safety and fire code compliance for water treatment facilities and conveyance and distribution systems. The Engineering Technician III will prepare and/or review of studies and preliminary design reports, design drawings, technical specifications, construction submittals, cost estimates, and design templates and checklists. This position will support design work in the area of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) which includes hazardous material identification and abatement, Cal/OSHA standards compliance, and fire code compliance. This technician will interpret and adapt guidelines such as policies, regulatory requirements, and legal precedents as they apply to Metropolitan's construction projects and incorporate them into the construction specifications. This role also includes preparing scopes of work and task orders for HSE consultants to augment Metropolitan staff. Site visits and travel to locations in Southern California will be required. Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm. Hybrid: Metropolitan's current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
