Pay Range: $94,350 to 128,572
Job Summary:

The Health & Safety Engineer will be a true, experienced safety professional who will report to the Director, Health, Safety & Security. They can come together as a team and support the plants networks in the development of health and safety culture across the ENA network. The core responsibility of the role is to support and triage underperforming plants as 'boots on the ground', to identify gaps related to performance and supporting plants by helping to do the work to make positive change.

The resource would require 60% travel or more and would support plants with higher rates of injury and near misses for extended periods of time to provide coaching to drive improved processes and work cultures. This role will help plant resources to learn how to 'see' risk among a new demographic of employees and therefore take less of it in the pathway of their daily work. They will also support several upgrades required to policy, procedure, training qualification assessment of plant HSE teams as part of a 3-year program to enhance and sure up the robustness of these processes.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or health and safety.
  • Minimum eight (8) years working in turnaround situations within the health & safety sector of manufacturing.
  • Understanding of OSHA 1904 standards for manufacturing required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Risk assessment, incident investigation, coaching & teaching, OSHA requirements, fatality prevention protocols, cultural change in a turnaround environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety management systems (ISO 45001) is a plus, OSHA 1904.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly motivated, creative, and results oriented.
  • Exceptional influencing and change management skills.
  • Ability to clearly identify and close gaps in compliance.
  • Aluminum extrusion industry is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Helps deploy C7-based projects such as Brady 360 for LTV standardization.
  • Assesses effectiveness of incident corrective actions, supports case management, supports audit action closure, maintains focused plant support in all areas needed and as requested.
  • Evaluates H&S above plant and plant level processes to determine where largest gaps exist. Works to standardize processes across plants so they can fall under a tighter policy umbrella and thus be easier to manage from a compliance perspective with central oversight.
  • Develops competency matrix for H&S professionals and assesses the network against a set of basic skills and abilities that are prerequisites for functional excellence in plant level roles, identifies developmental opportunities where there are gaps.
  • Develops health and safety training material and training plans for all professionals in the network where additional HSE competency is required.
  • Audits signage at all facilities and develops a standard for use by all ENA plants. Decides what signage is needed to ensure HSE compliance messaging is communicated in all the languages needed based on individual plant demographics (working with the Marketing Team to create excellent, invigorating messaging around HSE compliance).
  • 60-75% travel required.
