Add to favorites Favorited View favorites Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7) Department/Organization: 820401 - HRC Administration Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Job Summary: The Housing Accommodation Specialist provides the delivery of support services and the determination and provision of reasonable housing accommodations for University students living on-campus with disabilities under general supervision. Manages and evaluates all medical accommodation requests that affect housing assignments, exemptions, and cancellations. Gathers and ensures all accommodation request documentation is received. Assists students and families with the request process. Notifies staff as needed. Ensures compliance with relevant legal mandates. Additional Department Summary: Represents the department at recruitment functions, University Days, and Bama Bound. Completes required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience working with student housing or disabilities. Skills and Knowledge: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a variety of constituents (students, family, staff, and colleagues). Highly developed organizational skills. Knowledge of best practices and trends in housing accommodations. Familiarity with applicable laws and regulations (Fair Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.). Ability to effectively meet with prospective and enrolled students with disabilities and their families. Ability to effectively assess the student's needs and communicate procedures and mutual responsibilities. Commitment to supporting all students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 as applied to postsecondary education.
