Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts functional behavior assessments in order to develop and train staff to implement within the designated program and assesses the effectiveness of the behavior intervention(s). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs appropriate behavioral assessments and evaluation
- Provides supervision of assigned staff in the areas including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, leadership, coaching, training, performance management, promotion, discipline and termination
- Conducts observations and collects data in the residential/day program setting for assigned behavior referral
- Develops, approves, and assesses behavior plans to address problem behavior in the residential/day program
- Provides ongoing consultation services and training to direct care professionals, program supervisors, and program coordinators on behavior support and techniques
- Provides a monthly written evaluation on the effectiveness of behavior treatment plan
- Serves on the Behavior Management Committee
- Assists staff in Safe Crisis Management and De-escalation
- Provides staff training related to crisis management and de-escalation, positive behavior supports, therapeutic interactions, and individual-specific behavior plans and protocols
- Maintains current state-mandated training and certifications
- Follows all current policies and procedures of Elwyn New Jersey
- Cooperates with Elwyn New Jersey and the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services, or any other authorized investigating body during an inspection or investigation
- Works with, understands, and complies with terms and conditions of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) within a unionized environment with tasks including but not limited to adherence to scheduling procedures, processing transfers and promotions, administering disciplinary actions, adjudicating grievances, where appropriate, etc.
- Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis intervention and medication administration using agency-trained protocols
- Assumes rotational management on call as scheduled
- Performs other duties as assigned
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Clinical Services DIRECT REPORTS: Behavior Specialists CONTACTS: Elwyn staff, Parents/guardians, New Jersey Department of Human Services/Division of Development Disabilities (DDD) case manager, consultants, supports coordinators, physicians and psychiatrists EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in Psychology or related field from accredited college or university
- Certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- One (1) year experience in providing behavior support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism
- Previous experience working within and managing a unionized workforce preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated strong time management, flexibility, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
- Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
- Ability to be flexible
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Must be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocols
- Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required; and report-writer experience preferred

- Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
