The Analyst I/Compensation assists in the design, analysis and administration of employer compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay and performance management programs. Completes assigned tasks in support of job evaluations, pay grade determination, compensation survey participation, and analysis. This position contributes to maintaining competitive and equitable pay practices for the Southwest Gas enterprise.

POSITION DIMENSIONS

This position is not responsible for people or budgets. The incumbent frequently exchanges information with all levels within the organization, outside vendors and consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are clear precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed. This position requires a minimum of one year of relevant work experience plus a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Human Resource Management, Finance or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Performs analytical support activities for the administration of exempt and non-exempt compensation programs; includes market comparisons and recommendations for structure movement and budget distribution
  • Provides analytical support for the development and implementation of new, enhanced or revised compensation programs; assists with the study of compensation trends to support changes to existing and/or proposed compensation plans and structures
  • Understands and adheres to best practices, processes, and procedures for the administration of compensation programs, as set by team leadership; submits ideas for new, or revisions to current, practices and procedures
  • Learns about legal requirements concerning employee pay, including FLSA and Wage & Hour regulations
  • Assists with the administration of the job evaluation program, including the job evaluation process and pricing, job grades, and salary ranges; performs tasks associated with job analysis and maintaining standardized job descriptions
  • Responds to questions from HR business partners (HRBP's) and talent acquisition partners (TAP's), escalating as needed; ensures responses adhere to appropriate wage and hour rules, standards, and regulations
  • Responds to questions and escalations from HR Shared Services according to defined service level agreements (SLA's); prioritizes the customer experience and escalates as appropriate
  • Participates in meetings with Benefits, HRBP's, Talent Acquisition, and other HR centers of expertise (COE's) to deliver holistic Total Rewards solutions to the business; includes completing assigned tasks
  • Gathers and compiles data necessary to prepare responses to data requests from regulatory commissions and external parties
  • Responds to, or participates in, compensation surveys while ensuring appropriate job matches
  • Prepares educational and/or communications content (email, Word, PowerPoint, social media, etc.) about current and proposed compensation and incentive programs, as requested
  • Acts as a departmental resource for HR related systems, troubleshooting unusual data entry situations, problems with report writing, payroll issues, etc.
  • Participates in projects as assigned; may include large projects (e.g. SME involvement in the implementation or upgrade of technology that enables Compensation workflow and processes)
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job


SALARY DETAILS

Las Vegas: $60,190 - $84,245
