Summary

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a highly organized, creative and strategic Internal Communications, Culture & Engagement Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring clear, consistent, and engaging communication within the organization as well as enabling a staff culture of non-discrimination. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing internal channels, crafting compelling communications and enhance employee engagement to promote Mary Free Bed culture, mission, values, and goals. Working onsite at our Grand Rapids campus, this individual will be generating content to reach teams throughout the system in unique and engaging ways.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement various internal communication strategies that enhance employee engagement, promote Mary Free Bed culture, mission, values, and goals.
  • Working with existing content development team to gather and distribute high-quality written, visual and video content for internal platforms including but not limited to internal email, SharePoint, Workday and employee portal.
  • Produce high-quality written, visual and video content for internal platforms including email, employee portal, presentations, and newsletters. Content should be informative, engaging and aligned with the Mary Free Bed brand and voice.
  • Plan and execute internal communication campaigns, including the launch and roll out of new programs, locations, partnerships, and initiatives.
  • Support execution of leadership messaging and change management initiatives, working closely with executive support and chief of staff.
  • Plan and execute programs through Mary Free Bed Leadership to support our anti-discrimination culture.
  • Manage internal communication channels, ensuring they are up-to-date, user-friendly, and effectively reach all team members. This includes intranet, SharePoint, employee portal, email distribution lists, digital signage, and collaboration tools.
  • Work closely with human resources, marketing team members, employee engagement committees, and departments across the system to ensure cohesive communication throughout. Acting as a liaison between departments to gather content and align messaging.
  • Develop initiatives to increase and impact employee engagement. This includes engagement and interaction with communication channels, surveys, interactive content, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and campaigns. Provide regular reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist with dissemination of internal communications during crisis situations, ensuring clear and timely information is provided across the system.
  • Review and edit content for accuracy, grammar, style, tone, and voice. Ensuring all internal communications meet the organizations standards and quality.
  • Support creation of communications content including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, and speeches. Ensure all content is consistent with our brand voice and messaging.

Customer Service Responsibilities

Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behaviors as well as encourages, coaches, and monitors the same in team members. This individual should consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with co-workers and deal discretely and sensitively with confidential information.

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient/family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, or relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in internal communications, content creation, education, training, or similar role.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms (content management systems, email marketing software, intranet, Microsoft teams etc.).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with graphic design or video editing is a plus.
  • Innovative problem solver.
