JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for posting payments to accounts receivable and collecting premiums in a timely manner. This includes tracking and performing reconciliations for payments received against invoice amounts billed, analyzing back up to payment received and to the billed invoice amount, resolving outstanding balances through documented findings, making sound business decisions for account resolution, and delivering superior customer service in support of corporate and enterprise goals

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responds to a variety of telephone, electronic, and written inquiries from dental professionals, groups, subscribers, and brokers
  • Reviews invoices for accuracy and ensures timely delivery
  • Accurately posts all payments to accounts receivable. Reconciles accounts with payment or eligibility discrepancies. Enters refund deposits, invoice adjustments, verifies balances, verifies check amounts.
  • Identifies and monitors delinquent accounts. Communicates with responsible parties and management to reconcile outstanding balances.
  • Performs billing and reconciliation activities for assigned groups utilizing payment received, back up supplied against active enrollment and invoice billed.
  • Monitors accounts and communicates status to account manager, account executive and groups, when necessary
  • Coordinates billing function with other team activities to ensure billings reflect accurate rates and eligibility information
  • Meets departmental goals and objectives that support divisional and enterprise missions and goals
  • Establishes effective partnerships and working relationships with Account Services, Eligibility, Accounting, and other Departments to ensure timely and accurate invoicing for group implementation and resolving customer concerns related to billing and reconciliation issues, as required
  • Communicates with groups and Account Services to resolve billing and reconciliation issues and concerns on an exception basis. Elevates issues that impact the department or enterprise to director of Billing and/or AR on a timely basis
  • Communicates with groups and Account Services, Enrollment, Brokers and Account Receivables to resolve billing and reconciliation issues and concerns on an exception basis. Elevates issues to the leader as needed
  • Conducts audits as needed
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned, including providing support to other departments, as necessary

  • Ability to be detail oriented

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING REQUIRED
  • A High School diploma or GED is required
  • Bookkeeping or related work experience in billing or accounts receivable is required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with Excel spreadsheet experience
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Required to pass Billing Clerk tests

    Base Pay Information

    The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
