We have an opening for a Manager, Client Finance.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager, Client Finance and the indirect supervision of the Director of Client Finance, the Manager, Client Finance is responsible for overseeing the Client Finance Portfolio Manager team members, acts as a revenue liaison with the firm office chairs, as well as the Chief Operations Officer and manages and facilitates the collection activity of a multi-million dollar accounts receivable portfolio.

In this capacity, the Manager, Client Finance will:

  • Responsible for the proactive management of the Client Finance team, including receiving requests from attorneys and clients related to outstanding amounts and account reconciliations, analyzing the request and delegating tasks to the team for completion;
  • Review high level firm inventory reports, disseminate reports to Firm's office chairs and meet frequently with chairs to discuss planning and next actions on high value items, share feedback with relative billing and collections personnel;
  • Identify, review and recommend changes and improvements to processes related to the Client Finance department in an effort to streamline workflow;
  • Mentor and provide guidance to the Client Finance team when necessary;
  • Meet with the Chief Operations Officer to discuss problem accounts that require escalation;
  • Determine the collectability of the Firm's receivables and review with the attorney office chairs of various offices;
  • Coordinate with the Client Finance Portfolio Managers the collection of monies, including clients involved in bankruptcy and e-billing;
  • Correspond with the billing attorney and/or relationship partner to propose the course of action to maximize collection dollars;Advise the Firm's attorneys in matters of policy with respect to ethical issues, debtor work, billing procedures and write offs;
  • Effectively resolve billing issues through coordination with the Billing department; Research disputed account balances, and suggest future actions to avoid such disputes when appropriate;
  • Collaborate with Cash Receipt team to resolve payment issues; Provide advanced research, analysis and reconciliations;
  • Negotiate settlements with clients; Escalate legal issues to management;
  • Interview prospective new hires, train new hires on the Firms applications, including individualized training sessions dependent on client needs;
  • Supervise Client Finance Portfolio Manager's performance, set goals and provide professional development;
  • Develop strategic relationships with internal and external clients to help achieve the Firm's fiscal goals; and
  • Work overtime as required, particularly during month-end and year-end.
Proficiencies:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Advanced knowledge of financial professional ethics;
  • Advanced knowledge of traditional best practices for billing and accounts receivable;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good judgement;
  • Knowledge of the rules of Attorney-Client Privilege and Confidentiality;
  • Knowledge of 3E accounting system;
  • Knowledge of eBilling procedures; and
  • Knowledge of Bankruptcy law and related procedures (preferred).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree (Business, Economics or Finance preferred) or equivalent experience;
  • 5 years of collections or finance experience; and
  • At least 7 years of experience in a professional services environment.
