Production Planner/Buyer

This position will support the MEC/Atkins, VA plant while being located in Byron Center MI. This is a key role in the success of this division that will require excellent communication, teamwork, planning and approximately 10% travel.

Establishing, managing, reviewing and maintaining a master schedule
• Making adjustments to the master production schedule to ensure that inventory levels and customer service goals are maintained, and proper capacity and material planning occur; manage volatility in orders
• Developing and reordering information on each part to support customer requirements
• In depth knowledge of forecasting in build-to-order, build-to-stock, and assembly-to-order environment
• Knowledge of lean concepts (TPS) as it relates to scheduling functions
• Correspond directly with customers/suppliers on a daily basis
• Assists the Sales Lead and Plant Contacts on managing the customer accounts
• Communicate and coordinate with MEC's internal departments
• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Effectively negotiate customer dates on "drop in" orders based off start of production

• Manage purchase orders and EDI compliance

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university with one to four years related experience. 4-5 years of experience is preferred.
