Ardelyx is a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx has two commercial products approved in the United States, IBSRELA (tenapanor) and XPHOZAH (tenapanor). Ardelyx has agreements for the development and commercialization of tenapanor outside of the U.S. Kyowa Kirin commercializes PHOZEVEL (tenapanor) for hyperphosphatemia in Japan. A New Drug Application for tenapanor for hyperphosphatemia has been approved in China with Fosun Pharma. Knight Therapeutics commercializes IBSRELA in Canada.

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly strategic Senior Director of Access Marketing to join our dynamic team. This senior leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing innovative marketing strategies to engage and influence B2B customers, including payers, dialysis organizations (DO), and other key stakeholders in the United States healthcare ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned market access marketing leader with a deep understanding of the payer landscape, healthcare market dynamics, and the ability to drive growth through effective customer engagement strategies.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of B2B access marketing strategies to ensure product access, drive product adoption, and maximize product reimbursement opportunities
  • Oversee and/or develop of compelling strategic payer positioning that may include: value propositions for payer stakeholders, aligning clinical and economic data to support reimbursement and formulary placement
  • Oversee and/or develop and implement payer and DO focused materials, digital strategies, and educational initiatives aimed at influencing population health decision maker decisions and supporting product access (e.g., payer value proposition, S114, decks to communicate product value)
  • Oversee and/or develop key reimbursement materials for a field access manager (FAM) team calling on health care provider accounts
  • Work effectively with cross-functional and Market Access & Patient Services stakeholders, including brand leadership, commercial operations, and HEOR, Medical, Regulatory, Patient Services, Finance, Trade, Account Management to ensure alignment of payer marketing strategies with overall business objectives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key payer decision-makers, including insurers, PBMs, and other managed care organizations
  • Lead competitive intelligence and market research to identify payer trends, challenges, and opportunities, providing actionable insights for business and marketing strategies
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of access marketing professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring team success
  • Oversee the budgeting process for payer marketing initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve key business objectives
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of payer marketing efforts, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure optimal results and return on investment
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field, MBA preferred, with 12 - 15 years of experience or equivalent experience, particularly in the pharmaceutical/biopharma industry
  • 5+ years in a leadership role focused on payer marketing, market access, or related areas. Deep understanding of payer dynamics, healthcare reimbursement systems, and the healthcare care landscape (including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurers, PBMs, VA/DoD, Specialty Pharmacy, Wholesaler/Distributor, GPOs)
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing payer marketing strategies that drive reimbursement, formulary placement, and market access
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to analyze complex data and trends to inform strategy and decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to senior leadership, stakeholders, and external partners
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders
  • High level of comfort with regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Work Environment:
  • Travel will vary depending on the needs of the department
  • Remote location will be considered but periodic office attendance will be required based upon the needs of the business
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $258,000-$316,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
