Summary:

Supports all research-related grant and award activities of the Rogers Research Center including prospective opportunities, funding analysis, budget, proposal development, application preparation and submission. Supports both pre-award preparation and submission and post-award reporting and management. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversees intramural and extramural research grants and awards.
  • Prepares budgets and oversees reconciliation for studies funded through Rogers Foundation.
  • Leads identifying appropriate potential funding opportunities, investigators and collaborators that align with Rogers Research Center priorities and expertise.
  • Evaluates funding opportunities for eligibility, fit and readiness, and makes recommendations whether or not to pursue.
  • Prepares grant applications with principal investigators, ensuring appropriate content, formatting, registrations, grammar, consistency with program details and budget.
  • Creates standard template materials such as letters of intent/support, facility overview, background information, resource availability.
  • Ensures appropriate funding body registrations and authorizations are accurate and up to date.
  • Assists in obtaining administrative authorizations to apply, accept, and respond to programs.
  • Defines and facilitates Rogers Research Center intramural awards program.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation for audit and assessment purposes.
  • Where needed, or appropriate to skill level, assists in initiation and conduct of funded studies.
  • Works with finance team to ensure compliant and timely post-award accounting.
Performance and Quality Improvement
  • Participate in Rogers Operating System (ROS) where applicable.
  • Maintain familiarity with the ROS process and apply the model and tools to activities and projects.
  • Participate in ROS teams as requested.
  • Educate and involve staff in ROS as appropriate.

Physical/Mental Demands:
  • Verbal and hearing ability required to interact with patients and employees.
  • Numerical ability required to maintain records and operate computer.
  • Must be able to read and communicate through written, verbal and auditory skills and abilities.
  • Ability to plan, control, and collaborate in all aspects of employee relations. Tact required to deal effectively with employees and professional staff.
  • Logical thinking and discretion required to make decisions in initiating, recommending, and implementing policies and procedures and standards.
  • Position requires walking, sitting, and standing. Reaching, handling, grasping, and manual dexterity are necessary to operate various pieces of office equipment.
  • Position may require travel by auto or air.
  • Salaried position requires flexibility to accomplish needs of the program.
  • Physically/Mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician,per post-employment physical.
Education/Training Requirements:
  • Master of Science degree, or higher, in scientific, clinical or related field, strongly preferred.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in clinical or scientific field with 5 years experience in research grant preparation or management, required.
  • Minimum 5 years prior experience, preparing, submitting and managing research grant proposals
  • Exceptional written communication skills, phrasing, editing and organizing technical documents.
  • Prior experience developing project fundraising strategies and techniques for research organizations.
  • Prior experience as an investigator or awardee preferred, but not required.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Smartsheet.
  • 3 years prior experience developing effective, efficient policies, procedures and processes.
  • Prior experience in developing training materials and instructing professionals and researchers in policy and procedure.
  • Computer proficiency required.
