Job Description:

The Director of Sustainment & Integration will be a key leader in driving strategic initiatives, optimizing program logistics operations, and ensuring seamless integration across multiple departments, including Facilities, Safety, Finance, Engineering, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Fleet Management, Program/Project Management, Maintenance Management, Material Availability, Material Readiness, Spares Management, After Market Sales, and Marketing. This role requires collaboration with senior leadership and coordination with cross-functional teams to develop and implement functional plans that align with both program and corporate objectives. The successful candidate will lead teams to tackle complex challenges, promote continuous improvement, and influence cross-departmental decisions, including Sales and Marketing strategies.

This role is critical to ensuring that all facets of the organization work in tandem to achieve operational excellence and deliver exceptional service. The Director of Sustainment & Integration will be a driving force in achieving our strategic goals and enhancing overall program performance, including robust After Market Sales and Maintenance Management activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Senior Management: Establish and execute logistics and program sustainment activities, ensuring alignment with supply chain and operational strategies across Facilities, Safety, Finance, Quality Assurance, and After Market Sales.

  • Translate Strategies into Action: Convert business segment strategies into actionable functional objectives, integrating efforts with Fleet Management, Maintenance Management, Safety and Sales to enhance overall operational efficiency.

  • Policy Development: Coordinate with Quality Assurance to contribute to the development of organizational policies that drive operational effectiveness and support Material Availability, Readiness, and After Market Sales objectives.

  • Direct Multi-Departmental Activities: Oversee and coordinate activities across integrated departments through lower-level managers and cross functional teams, ensuring alignment with project schedules and corporate requirements.

  • Project Management: Ensure that projects, budgets, and schedules meet program and corporate requirements while managing risks associated with material readiness, spares management, and sales forecasts.

  • Innovative Solutions: Lead teams in developing innovative methods to resolve complex issues, particularly those related to logistics operations, supply chain workflows, and After Market Sales strategies.

  • Process Improvement: Drive process improvements and introduce new design/development approaches that enhance quality, reliability, and speed across all integrated departments.

  • Supply Chain Oversight: Oversee pre-deployment planning and coordinate supply chain workflows, ensuring that materials are available and ready for deployment to support After Market Sales efforts.

  • Best Practices Adoption: Influence the adoption of best practices in logistics, materials management, and Sales and Marketing to enhance operational efficiency across various departments.

  • Analytical Troubleshooting: Utilize analytical thinking to troubleshoot complex systems and recommend solutions that improve overall performance, particularly in After Market Sales and Marketing initiatives.

  • Mentorship and Training: Provide mentorship and training to junior team members to build a high-performing, knowledgeable team.

  • Customer Interface: Engage with internal and external customers to define, develop, and deliver effective solutions that meet business needs, particularly in After Market Sales.

  • Business Development Support: Assist in the development of competitive proposals and contribute to broader business development efforts, including marketing strategies.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate results, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with corporate goals.

  • Resource Planning: Manage manpower and resource planning, including project scheduling and task prioritization, ensuring effective delegation and monitoring of team performance.

  • Inventory Management: Executive agent responsible for the management of Government Furnished Equipment/ Property utilizing the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE) in support of customer programs.

  • Team Culture: Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, promoting shared success across all integrated departments.

Compensation Range: $161,700-$218,300

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Business or related discipline is required. Master's degree/MBA is preferred.

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in program/project management.

  • Extensive experience in logistics support, supply chain management, and materials management, with a strong emphasis on integration across various functions, including After Market Sales.

  • In-depth understanding of contract management and business development practices, particularly in the context of Facilities, Fleet Management, Safety, and Sales strategies.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive project/program success, with a track record of effective collaboration across multiple departments.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills to facilitate strong inter-departmental relationships.

  • Proficiency in strategic planning, budgeting, and performance tracking, with an ability to align departmental goals with corporate objectives.

  • Proficient in Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment tool (PIEE).
