Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Machine Operator (2nd shift) to join our growing team. In this role, you will conduct a wide range of mechanical testing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Provide technical assistance to customers and co-workers, with focus on quality, standardization, and continuous improvement. This position will work closely with the department manager in facilitating the preparation of test specimens and testing in order to meet customer turn time and requests.

Salary: $24- $27/hr DOE



Responsibilities

* Prepare specimens by cutting on band and abrasive saws, machining, and polishing
* Use calibrated hand tools such as micrometer, caliper, compass, and ruler to take measurements and record them into the test records.
* Perform maintenance of the lab equipment.
* Communicate any issues (safety, product flow, equipment, etc.) to management and machine shop team members.
* Maintain qualifications to local procedures.



Skills / Qualifications

Required:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
1-2 years operating saws, industrial equipment (mills, lathes, grinders)
Strong mechanical aptitude

Desirable:
Testing to ASTM and ISO standards
Experience with NADCAP/ISO accreditation
Experience with waterjet or electro-discharge machining (EDM) for higher level title and wage

Mathematical Skills
Use of a calculator to multiply and divide numbers and apply rounding rules. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Conversant in both English and metric systems.
