Job description

Purpose:

The Finance Manager is responsible for developing and leading a curious team through financial analysis and reporting to support continuous improvement efforts, financial planning and forecasting and internal controls to ensure, stewardship and compliance to policy. The position also partners with and advises site business leadership through operational direction setting and strategic planning.

Qualifications

Key Accountabilities:

  • Promote the safety and health of all team members
  • Lead and encourage the on-going learning, professional satisfaction and development of the Finance function and team members
  • Drive a culture focused on continuous improvement and operational business partnerships
  • Perform & direct financial and business analysis functions and controls
  • Ensure that the facility maintains accurate books and records in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and that the business is conducted in compliance with established corporate, sector, and division policies, procedures and practices
  • Complete the required activities for monthly closing ensuring accurate financial and management reporting
  • Lead the site financial forecasting and annual budgeting processes.
  • Direct the development of annual product cost standards and analyze cost performance for paper production operations
  • Drive changes in methods and procedures to improve departmental efficiencies
  • Ensure the protection of assets through procedures which are consistent with corporate policies and/or other legal requirements
  • Monitor capital spending requests for economic return calculations
  • Provide financial oversight and create a partnership with the Project Evolution team formed to develop new market and product opportunities
  • Actively work with Storeroom, Maintenance and Operations to reduce working capital and increase cash conversion
  • Be part of the weekend rotation supporting the Sourcing organization
Personal qualities

Required Experience:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance. MBA, CMA or CPA desired
  • 5+ Years managerial experience
  • 7-10 years manufacturing experience
  • Proven ability to interpret financial data and standard cost concepts
  • Self-starter with the proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to mentor, motivate, influence and collaborate effectively to 'make a difference' each day
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office products
  • High degree of internal and external customer awareness
  • Understanding of strong internal controls
  • Process management training
  • Planning & priority-setting training

Travel: Low (less than 10%)
