DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Environmental Projects Construction Inspector, you will be tasked with handling the inspection of construction and materials for civil, environmental, and mine reclamation projects. This position requires an extensive understanding of contract plans, specifications, permits, and policies in order to apply them to the enforcement of the contract. You will be responsible for inspecting the installation and maintenance of erosion and sedimentation control devices for conformance with approved plans and permits; ensuring corrective action is taken; enforcing and issuing Notice of Violations; and completing Earth Disturbance Inspection Reports with recommendations. You will have the opportunity to educate property owners, other state and federal agencies, as well as the media regarding project activities. Additional responsibilities include:
- Measuring and computing monthly estimates
- Investigating complaints and recommending solutions
- Collecting water samples to determine the impact of projects
- Reviewing and checking contractor work and equipment
- Checking survey layouts for accuracy

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, in the field. You will be expected to report to the Cambria District office on an as needed basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations; or
- An Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
