The Opportunity

Our Pipeline Integrity Corrosion and Crack Management team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Calgary/Houston to lead a team responsible for managing stress corrosion cracking and manufacturing and construction threats across the US and Canada.

We are seeking an experienced Manager who has knowledge and experience in Gas Transmission Pipeline Integrity. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to lead a team of individual contributors responsible for MFC and a Team Lead (and associated team) responsible for SCC in a manner that ensures safety and compliance.

As the Manager of the Pipeline Integrity Crack Management team this you will be responsible for keeping leadership apprised of emerging issues, presenting business cases for proposed program modifications, and ensuring the teams are engaging in industry initiatives and incorporating learnings

What you'll do

  • Provide leadership and performance management, including employee development and succession planning, for a team of engineers and technical specialists
  • Develop and implement Integrity Management/Pipeline Safety Programs while ensuring quality and consistency in the team's engineering and technical work
  • Provide strategic direction by defining strengths and weakness in program design and implementation, monitoring changing regulatory requirements, and proactively developing strategic recommendations
  • Proactively identify safety, technical, budget, or process concerns
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and coordinate multiple groups to support regulatory and internal audit activities
  • Prepare, obtain approval, control, and report on pipeline integrity program budgets
  • Plan the program of work to meet technical, regulatory, and commercial operations requirements
  • Develop business cases with recommendations for leadership review
  • Work across organization to remove barriers and address issues
  • Provide technical expertise in the area of Pipeline Integrity and Federal Regulations
  • Responsible for planning and directing large engineering programs/projects
  • Sets priorities and allocates resources; makes necessary decisions on all day-to-day operating matters within constraints of company policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of Pipeline Integrity experience
  • Experience working with pipeline safety regulators in both the US and Canada
  • For Engineering in Canada, Registered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership/engagement on industry committees
  • Involved in industry research

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
  • Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up 15% of work schedule)
  • Stay overnight away from home base (estimated up 10% of work schedule)
  • Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
  • Successfully complete pre-employment background checks
