Job Summary
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Estimator. The position is within our Estimating team. Our operating market includes Central, Southern, Eastern and Western parts of Pennsylvania. We also have a workforce in the Maryland and West Virginia area.
Main Responsibilities
- Complete accurate and concise estimates of required labor, equipment and materials needed to complete project
- Review and incorporate historical data (purchase orders, quotations, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) into estimates
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, project site, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
- Use of computer-based software (JDE, Heavy Job) to take off quantities, field measurements, or obtain information from the plan, proposal, and cross sections to accurately calculate various statistical data in a timely manner
- Responsible for the coordination and administration of projects upon completion of sale or low bid including maintaining files of working documents
- Perform additional assignments per supervisoras direction
- Bid a project from beginning to end including takeoffs, detailed estimate setup, entry, and analysis of material and subcontracting pricing
- Read and interpret schematics, specifications, and plans
- Prepare reports, business correspondence, and documents
- Work with Sr. Team members to complete all areas of the bid
Education
- Degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred
Skills
- Proven working experience as an Estimator
- An understanding of PennDOT work and estimating
- Proficient in standard estimating software
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Proficient in estimating construction projects, cost control, and material pricing
- A team-first mentality and eagerness to set and meet aggressive
- A minimum of 2 years of combined experience in estimating and construction including excavation, paving, underground utility, site development and heavy highway projects
Physical Requirements
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Proven track record working safely
- Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
