The Jonas lab is looking to hire a part-time histology technician (5-15h per week) to assist with histological sectioning of tissue samples in paraffin blocks. Our translational laboratory works with a variety of tumor tissues. The successful candidate will be independently responsible for sectioning FFPE tissue blocks on a microtome, and collecting serial sections. Key Responsibilities: Sectioning of tumor tissues in FFPE paraffin blocks Collection of serial sections from paraffin blocks Sample embedding and trimming as needed Occasionally there may also be frozen samples for sectioning The successful candidate must have extensive previous experience in histological sectioning and tissue collection of FFPE tissues on a standard microtome. Experience with frozen sectioning is desired but not required. Experience with other histological skills such as tissue embedding is beneficial, but not required.
