We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Retail Account Management Vice President, who is responsible for developing and maintaining solid relationships with key payment network retail partners, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the successful execution of payment solutions within the retail sector. This leadership role involves managing a team, overseeing account strategies, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to enhance payment network adoption, optimize performance, and deliver value to retail clients. The VP will ensure critical win-win relationships are grown and sustained over the long-term in an operationally effective and coordinated manner in alignment with Optum Financials long range plan.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Strategic Account Management

    • Develop and execute account management strategies for major retail partners
    • Serve as the primary relationship owner for key retail clients, ensuring their business needs align with the payment network's capabilities
    • Drive customer satisfaction and retention by delivering innovative payment solutions


  • Business Development & Growth

    • Identify new business opportunities within existing retail accounts and expand network acceptance
    • Collaborate with sales, product, and marketing teams to develop customized solutions that enhance transaction volumes and revenue
    • Negotiate commercial agreements and pricing models to drive long-term partnerships


  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Lead and mentor a team of account managers, ensuring high performance and professional growth
    • Establish best practices for account management, client engagement, and business expansion
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team


  • Operational Excellence & Performance Optimization

    • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics, ensuring efficient transaction processing and high authorization rates
    • Work closely with risk, compliance, and fraud teams to ensure secure payment transactions
    • Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of account management operations


  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with marketing teams to support co-branded campaigns and retailer-driven promotions
    • Work with data and analytics teams to provide insights that help retailers optimize their payment strategies
    • Engage with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry standards

Required Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of experience in account management, business development, or partnership management within the payments, fintech, or retail industries
  • Solid understanding of payment processing, digital payments, and industry regulations
  • Proven track record of managing large retail accounts and driving revenue growth
  • Proven excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to navigate complex client organizations and influence key decision-makers

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
