PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Responsible for conducting and participating in comprehensive audits of GROWMARK and its subsidiary operations, processes, and annual financial statement audits, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Internal Audits: Executes internal audits as assigned by the Director of Internal Auditing. These audits encompass GROWMARK subsidiaries, divisions (wholesale and retail), facilities, product division programs, transaction cycles, and information systems (including eCommerce). Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing accounting and operational processes through discussions, observations, and documentation to evaluate internal controls and operational efficiency, and compiling comprehensive write-ups.
  • Performing and documenting audit procedures to verify the effectiveness of accounting and operational processes, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Identifying and recommending enhancements to internal controls and operational processes.
  • Preparing detailed draft audit reports for submission to management, external auditors, and the Budget/Audit Committee.
  • Leveraging data automation tools to optimize and streamline processes.

Financial Statement Audits: Collaborates in the annual financial statement audits of GROWMARK, subsidiaries, retail divisions, and employee benefit plans alongside external auditors. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting audit routines in assigned areas, such as confirming transactions with external parties.
  • Serving as a liaison among external auditors, internal staff, and external service providers to achieve audit objectives efficiently.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Under the direction of management, the Director of Internal Auditing, or the Executive Director of Corporate Compliance, participates in compliance investigations to:

  • Document and analyze instances of Code of Conduct violations.
  • Examine internal control failures within GROWMARK's wholesale and retail divisions or subsidiaries.

Provides support by responding to inquiries and conducting in-depth research on technical accounting matters as required.

Assists in conducting annual physical inventories at GROWMARK or subsidiary facilities as needed.

Ensures compliance with GROWMARK's Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety guidelines, OSHA, and DOT policies.

Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline highly preferring a CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification.

Demonstrated expertise in analytical and problem-solving techniques.

Proficiency in audit software and data automation tools.

Superior communication and report-writing skills.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Comprehensive knowledge of internal control frameworks and regulatory compliance standards.

Predominantly office-based with occasional travel to GROWMARK facilities and subsidiaries for audits, inventory counts or investigations.

Periodic physical activity required for inventory participation.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and passport and able to travel independently and overnight as necessary. A passport is required as some travel to Canada may be required.

Ability and strong commitment to maintain independence and complete confidentiality.

Occasionally required to climb ladders and work outside of an office environment to complete audit procedures including inventory observations.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
