IFF in Union Beach, NJ is seeking a Scientist II, Advanced Analytical Taste & Scent to join our R&D team!

You will work in a fast-paced, onsite environment supporting all R&D platforms, with a strong focus on flavor and scent delivery projects. This role involves bench research in gas chromatography and sample preparation, contributing to both routine analysis and method development. You will work under a group leader and collaborate across teams to understand customer needs and develop impactful solutions using your expertise in organic, analytical, and physical chemistry.

• Plan, set up, and execute experiments in analytical chemistry (60%)
• Analyze data, document experiments, present findings, and propose next steps (30%)
• Participate in department meetings and broader R&D activities (10%)
• Conduct sample preparation in complex matrices
• Perform quantitative analysis using chromatographic methods
• Troubleshoot and maintain chromatographic instrumentation
• Develop new analytical methods and support project development
• Apply chemistry knowledge to meet customer and project needs

• MS in Analytical Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of industrial experience, or BS with 10+ years of experience
• Proven expertise in sample preparation, automation, and chromatography
• Strong understanding of chromatographic separations, especially gas chromatography
• Experience in target compound quantitation and instrumentation troubleshooting
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Experience in method development for complex matrices
• Familiarity with automation in analytical workflows
• Demonstrated success in applying analytical chemistry to flavor and scent delivery
