Pilot Plant Technologist - 1st Shift - Golden Valley The Operations Technologist role will serve the Pet platform for Blue Buffalo. This role involves the setup, operation, & disassembly related to the Pet platform. In this role, you will be providing run direction and partnership to customers to ensure successful runs/experiments. This position's primary focus will be to support the Pet platform but may be required to support other areas in the Pilot Plant as needed.

SHIFT HOURS
This position is scheduled five days per week, 8 hours per day from the hours of 6 AM - 2 PM.

Actual days of the work week, start times and end times may change based on business needs. With advance notification, the candidate may be required to flex to a different shift or have different hours based on evolving business needs. This candidate may be required to work up to 4 hours of overtime before or after their assigned shift and/or occasionally support 8-12 hours on the weekend.

PAY & BENEFITS

  • The salary for this position is $50,500 annually*

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Human and Food Safety Leadership: can lead teams through projects / efforts to find and resolve safety risks. Mastery to lead teams through Risk Assessment process prior to daily runs or as run parameters shift.
  • Maintains skills on multiple unit operations / systems; mastery is present on systems.Can runs systems efficiently & can teach to grow capability of others. Provides both run
    support and provides direction / perspective to customers to deliver more efficient and successful results.
  • Leads equipment sanitation activities with capability to inspect following sanitation.
    Master of system setup; expected to safely identify new ways to accomplish and problem solve challenging setups.
  • Maintenance / Electrical / Controls - doing and troubleshooting with efficiency to support customer needs.
  • Daily Direction Setting leadership role in a specific Pilot Plant area. Capable of summarizing and sharing learning with customer team for group learning and discussion.
  • Ability to consistently & repeatedly lift, manipulate & transport ingredients or equipment, up to 55 lbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-Year Degree OR High School Degree with 3-5 years of experience
  • Strong Technical Background and ability to perform some maintenance
  • Mastery of working in teams to deliver results; including training/capability building of others
  • Strong Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Skills
  • High Confidence in processing (pilot plant or plant) environment, even with new systems / tasks
  • High Confidence operating equipment and can quickly adapt to new systems
  • Great communication skills
  • Strong understanding of food safety and human safety
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, lead via influence and contribute to a team environment
  • Interpersonal ability to build relationships at all levels within the organization to advance your work
  • Ability to diagnose and autonomously resolve conflicts with others
  • Desire to learn new concepts quickly and apply in productive ways

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous meat lab experience
  • Previous Extrusion experience
  • Previous experience in a similar field
  • Foodservice & Laboratory experience
  • Effectively manage multiple competing priorities
  • High efficiency in ways of working
  • Passionate around the creation of food, CPG industry, and consumer trends (both food and packaging)
  • 2-Year Degree in Scientific Discipline or 4-Year Degree in Non-Scientific Discipline

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $49400.00 - $68100.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
