Job Summary

Works with Office of Sustainability staff, interns, and members of the Georgia Tech community to further sustainability initiatives related to reducing the environmental impact of the university's operations, promote environmental awareness and education, and support associated research.

This position will interact on a regular basis: Office of Sustainability staff, interns, and members of the Georgia Tech community

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Collaborates with GT administration, faculty, staff and students to promote the long-term strategy and success of the university's sustainability initiatives. Serves as liaison between university stakeholders, coordinating resources, and facilitating communication on sustainability projects and programs.

Job Duty 9 -
Supports annual and semi-annual sustainability reporting to third-party institutions, including, but not limited to Second Nature (GHG inventory and Climate Action Plan)

Job Duty 10 -
Develops, maintains and facilitates internal training and education materials and programming

Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Duty 2 -
Contributes content for website and marketing materials to share progress of sustainability initiatives including, but not limited to, newsletters and articles

Job Duty 3 -
Represents the Sustainability Program by serving on relevant committees

Job Duty 4 -
Engages in continuing education opportunities by attending professional development courses, self-directed professional reading and participating in industry interest groups

Job Duty 5 -
Identifies, advocates for and supports the implementation of conservation strategies, especially relating to energy and water consumption, transportation and waste management

Job Duty 6 -
Supports university department in the implementation and tracking of conservation initiatives

Job Duty 7 -
Develops and supports relationships with external community partners in support of strategic programs and projects. Manages sustainability interns and provides mentorship to Green Ambassadors

Job Duty 8 -
Assists in defining sustainability goals and tracking performance in key sustainability metrics

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Certifications or licenses required for this job: At least one of the following: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification Current and valid LEED Green Associate certification, Building Operator Certification

Required Experience
Two to three years of job-related experience

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree

Preferred Experience
Five or more years of job-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines. Able to work collaboratively with individuals at various levels across the university and externally.

KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of energy and water conservation best practices; ability to interpret consumption data and discuss the information with students, faculty, staff and administrators. Understanding recycling best practices. Knowledge of a broad range of sustainability issues, especially as they impact universities and college.

SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and organization skills. The ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and/or within a team environment.

Pay Range $23.99/hr - $32.62/hr

Salary will commensurate with experience and education
