Salary Range starting at: $13.53/ per hour

Job Objective:

You will prepare and serve meals for Center residents as directed; and clean up after meals. You will also assist the Kitchen Manager in scheduling employees to ensure proper coverage and training new employees

What you will do:

• Prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals for Center residents by following menus provided by the Kitchen Manager
• Clean up the kitchen and dining area after all meals during your assigned work hours
• Maximize the use of donated food in meal preparation
• Ensure that Intake staff has access to sack lunches and snacks for residents before the end of his/her shift. Food items for residents should be taken to the Intake area or put in the Staff Lounge Receive
• Observe generally accepted hygiene practices

• Properly store and maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies to minimize loss and waste
• Assist other janitorial and housekeeping staff as needed

• Direct concerns regarding residents to the Kitchen Manager only;
• Keep information about residents of the Center and their contact with the Center confidential
• Assist the Kitchen Manager with ordering products
• Ensures coverage for all shifts
• Other duties as directed

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed

Experience: Experience working as a cook in either a residential or commercial setting. Experience and ability to relate to others in a positive manner in a social service setting providing services to persons in crisis

Certifications: CPR and ServeSafe certifications are required within 60 Days

Skills/Abilities: Able to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership and field personnel. Able to accept and communicate with clients of diverse cultural and socioeconomic groups.

Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervisory responsibility for this position

Physical Requirements Include:

• Able to twist, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and stand for extended periods
• Able to lift up to 25lbs
• Able to reach and stoop to stock shelves
• Able to climb stairs
• Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: None anticipated

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an (office, warehouse, medical facility, church) environment; may require some weekend and evening work.
