Nuclear AOV and MOV Technicians perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly, and testing of valves at client locations. Ensure timely communication with management, co-workers, and customers to facilitate successful job completion. Complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical control devices or valves using power and hand tools.
- Perform functional post-maintenance testing, diagnostic testing, and calibrations of valves.
- Record maintenance information, including test results, material usage, and repairs made.
- Calibrate instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
- Test valves and regulators for leaks and accurate settings using precision testing equipment.
- Install, inspect, and test electric meters, relays, and power sources.
- Report hazardous field situations and notify repair crews for major repairs.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience.
- Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
- Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
- Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
- Availability for shift work, if needed.
- Ability to support other crafts as requested.
- Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
- Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
- Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
- Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
- Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
