The RoleWe are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to fill the role of Sr Director, Professional Services - Project Governance Practice. This individual will oversee complex operations technology projects within the electric utility industry. This executive-level role is responsible for ensuring high-level customer satisfaction, strategic oversight of project execution, and providing expert guidance to project managers, technical leads, and engineering teams. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of project management methodologies, utility infrastructure, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and regions. Above all, the ideal candidate will have an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
Your Impact
- Serve as the executive liaison and trusted advisor to utility clients, maintaining strong, long-term relationships.
- Understand client business drivers and align project delivery to meet strategic objectives.
- Lead high-level meetings, presentations, and negotiations with executive stakeholders.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for a portfolio of complex utility projects (transmission, distribution, substation, grid modernization, DER integration, etc.).
- Guide and mentor project managers and technical teams to ensure consistent delivery excellence.
- Ensure adherence to schedule, budget, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide expert input on technical challenges and solutions related to engineering design, implementation, and system integration.
- Identify and mitigate risks across the project lifecycle through proactive planning and by implementing an effective escalation processes.
- Stay current on industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies relevant to utility operations.
- Promote and enforce project management best practices, tools, and methodologies across teams.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
- Collaborate with internal departments (engineering, project management, R&D, finance, legal) to align project delivery with corporate goals.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in project, program or business management within the electric utility sector.
- Proven experience leading large-scale, complex projects and managing executive level customer relationships.
- Strong understanding of the US electric utility industry, including generation, transmission, and distribution operations, in addition to emerging technologies.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, including executive presence.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, in customer-facing roles.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on achieving business objectives.
- Advanced degree (MBA, MEng, or MS in Engineering) preferred.
- PE license or relevant engineering credentials preferred.
- Experience with regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., FERC, NERC) preferred.
- Up to 25-40% travel may be required depending on project locations and client engagements.

The salary range for this role is $196,800.00 - $246,000.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay.
