Job Description:

Summary:The Mix Design Lab Assistant is responsible for supporting the mix design team by breaking down aggregates and recycled asphalt products (RAP) and preparing the materials for the initial mix design phases. This position will work directly with ODOT Level 3 Asphalt Concrete Technician mix designers to create the asphalt mix designs that we use in our asphalt plant production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (KMI will train/mentor):

• Perform aggregate breakdown (grade materials)
• Drying and processing recycled asphalt products (RAP)
• Perform non-heat related asphalt testing (rice testing, specific gravity testing, etc.)
• Help clean and maintain the upkeep of the laboratory and equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

• Reliable, good time-management skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated
• Possess good mathematical skills

Physical Demands:

• Comply with proper PPE requirements
• Lifting asphalt samples +/-50 lbs. daily
• Occasionally requires lifting over 75lbs
• Ability to stand / walk +/-8 hours

Work Environment:

• Temperature controlled indoor working environment
• Variable working hours, possible OT available
• Small-team working environment

Qualifications and Experience:

• ODOT Level 2 Asphalt Concrete Technician is preferred but not required
• High School Diploma
• Valid driver's license
• Must have reliable transportation
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
