Position description

The Department of Communication invites applications for a Lecturer position.

The course load is potentially 3 courses per quarter, with a particular need for a large format course (approx. 300 students - Introduction to Communication) and other pre-major courses: Comm 87 (Statistical Analysis for Communication), Comm 88 (Communication Research Methods), and Comm 89 (Theories of Communication). Specific courses might also include Organizational Communication, Communication Law, Health Communication, Communication and Conflict, Marketing, Small Group Communication, or others (see undergraduate courses listed at https://catalog.ucsb.edu/departments/COMM/courses).

This position will remain open until filled.


Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Qualified applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in communication or a related field, except dissertation or equivalent, by the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field by the appointment start date.

Preferred qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong social science background, and experience in teaching undergraduate courses.
