Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Financial Aid administers the student financial aid program including federal, state and local funds. Assesses financial needs of students, and advises students regarding financial aid options, processes, and requirements. Evaluates student academic progress and adjudicates academic progress appeals. Participates as appropriate in systems/procedures planning and management; implements and coordinates specific individual programs and/or assignments, in accordance with the overall objectives of the department. Uses logic and knowledge of policies, procedures, and appropriate governmental regulations to solve problems and make decision on a correct course of action when a choice can be made; makes logical and timely decisions; exhibits flexibility and a willingness to learn; deals professionally with unexpected situations and operates with little or no direct supervision. Ability to cope with stressful circumstances and to cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks. Exhibits a willingness to assume additional duties; seeks the guidance of supervisor prior to beginning an unfamiliar assignment unless otherwise instructed. Ability to perform in a confidential, ethical and professional manner.
