Position Description

The IT Support Technician IV's scope includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of basic hardware and some software support and maintenance. This position will also specialize in hardware and software relevant to the department or unit, and manage area or unit IT projects in support of business operations. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

Major/Essential Functions

The IT Support Technician IV's scope includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of basic hardware and some software support and maintenance. This position will also specialize in hardware and software relevant to the department or unit, and manage area or unit IT projects in support of business operations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus five (5) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience.

Occasional Duties

• Working independently and/or with management and/or project leads to: Provide technical guidance to management regarding capital replacement, and other technology purchases and evaluations.
• Troubleshoots primarily hardware, some software, or some system problems, interfacing with central technology support areas.
• Perform technical duties necessary for department or unit business operations.
• Manage area or unit IT hardware projects in support of business operations.
• Organizes and helps overall goals of Director to maintain procedures for the unit
• Desktop Support/Troubleshooting: Assist faculty/staff and students with advanced technical issues. Use necessary tools/resources to resolve any issue. Research troubleshooting techniques under the director of the IT Director.
• Install new computers and dispose of obsolete devices per Texas Tech and departmental policies.
• Manage and direct Davis College Technology Services (TS) including desktop support, classroom support, digital signage, and computer labs.
• Provide technology and train the faculty to use the equipment
• Consult with faculty and staff, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements
• Stay abreast of advances in technology
• Other duties as assigned
