Broadwind Energy has an opening in our Abilene plant for a Beveler. We are busy and that's good. This position is on our B Shift - 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Friday. This shift comes with a $2.00/hr shift differential. Interested? Keep reading.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will be responsible for edging steel plate to place the proper bevel angle per specifications using the knowledge of metal fabrication, engineering requirements and bevel work instructions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all of the following responsibilities)

* Check orientation of parts

* Properly use gantry and replace cutting wheels

* Clean and de-burr plate

* Bevel plate to customer specification which includes the set-up of angle and thickness pinch

* Inspection of equipment, reporting issues to maintenance or repairing

* Complete CRLW log

* Record job and section worked on in time matrix

* Actively support all EHS and continuous improvement initiatives

* Ability to efficiently and independently operate beveling equipment, keeping up with production needs.

* Ability to utilize the hand grinder, hand scraper, tape measure, caliper and protractor to perform tasks associated with position.

* Able to locate and reference all work instructions related to current job or project.

* Understanding of department KPIs, metrics and measurables.

* Sense of urgency and accountability.

* Must be able to pass new hire drug test as well as random drug tests.

* Vision certified Jaeger #2 and pass VT written test.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

* Ability to read and comprehend documents including technical information and blueprints. Ability to write reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees and as a representative of the Company.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables at the same time.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS

* High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality, raw materials and other techniques, methods and tools involved in the process of fabricating steel support structures.

* Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources

* We complete drug tests prior to hire as well as conduct random drug tests.

* We have expectations around attendance, tardiness and quality of work.
