Summary:

The Accessibility Program Specialist at Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) supports accessibility efforts and compliance with applicable standards and regulations (i.e. ADA, Section 504, Section 508, WCAG, etc.) throughout the organization.

Success in this position will require in-depth knowledge of accessibility requirements and mandated actions related to security policies, ADA Section 508, all pertinent special education laws relating to accommodations for assessments. To meet DRC needs, the Program Specialist must be an accessibility champion for the delivery of accessible solutions that meet requirements and support the needs of all users.

Essential Position Qualifications:



  • Support DRC's Accessibility/508 Program, a complex company-wide responsibility that touches all parts of the organization.
  • Serve as resource person for company wide digital accessibility, document accessibility, UDL, and compliance of Section 504, Section 508, and the ADA. Support compliance management activities covered under the Section 508 law by:

    • Review and identify compliance issues in multiple modalities (documents, multimedia, websites, etc.); and
    • Document identified issues and recommend potential solutions and best practices for remediation of accessibility concerns; and
    • Support DRC resources in remediating identified accessibility concerns; and


  • Actively promote the benefits of accessibility, and advocate and negotiate to improve accessibility of company products and solutions; and
  • Prepare and conduct training on accessibility-related topics.
  • Remain current with applicable standards and regulations as they apply to DRC deliverables (i.e. content, software, assistive technologies, accessibility success criteria, requests, new development, and any other updates).


Qualifications:



  • In depth knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act 1973, WCAG 2.2 Level AA Standards, and W3C to ensure compliance of accessibility laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and individuals with disabilities in assessment settings
  • Experience working effectively with several clients and project teams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and direction as required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to understand and explain complex processes.
  • Knowledge of, and skills in various assistive technologies used by people with disabilities.
  • Accessibility proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Acrobat Adobe Professional, and CommonLook.
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Figma, and WordPress.
  • BA/BS in related field.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) - or able to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience working in an educational setting.
  • Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) - or able to obtain within 12 months.
  • Assistive Technology Professional Certification (ATP).
  • MA/MS in education or related field.

Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time
  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
