Job Summary

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced health education professional with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

The APP Fellowship Faculty Instructor (Instructor) collaborates with the UCSF Medical Center APP Fellowship Program Director(s) on curriculum design and evaluation tools to ensure they are evidence-based and meet accreditation standards. The Instructor performs formal and informal teaching of APP fellows, supports APP fellows to address competency gaps, and guides APP fellows during their scholarly project work. The Instructor supports the Program Director(s) in the design and delivery of the fellowship orientation and actively participates in the fellowship application reviews, interviews, and fellow selection. The Instructor participates in the writing of accreditation documents and accreditation visits.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $80,200 - $120,300 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Office of Advanced Practice Providers is an APP support department with four main functions: 1) Onboarding and Orientation; 2) Practice Quality and Optimization; 3) Education and Fellowship; and 4) Clinical Inquiry. The goal of this position is to support the UCSF APP Fellowship, which provides an environment where novice APPs gain the skills required to provide high quality clinical care and improve patient outcomes. The UCSF APP fellowship provides a comprehensive learning experience featuring a structured onboarding, didactic education, professional mentorship, procedure/skills labs, and a variety of practice-based learning environments.

Required Qualifications


  • Master's degree from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Unrestricted California license as an NP or PA
  • National board certification as an NP or PA
  • Clinical Experience: A minimum of five years of related healthcare experience as a nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA).
  • Professional Licensure: Must maintain national board certification and California licensure as an NP or PA for duration of employment.
  • Teaching Ability: A minimum of three years of recent curriculum design and delivery at an accredited NP or PA program. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach graduate or doctoral level APPs.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse learners and providers.
  • Organizational Skills: Effective organizational skills to plan, develop, and implement initiatives. Able to analyze, interpret, and respond to learner needs.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Doctoral degree from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Evidence-Based Practice: Demonstrated experience with implementing evidence-based practice projects or mentoring learners through evidence-based practice projects.
  • Accreditation Experience: A minimum of three years of recent experience designing a curriculum to meet accreditation standards or supporting a program/organization through an accreditation process such as APP fellowship accreditation or Magnet recognition

License/Certification


  • Unrestricted California license as an NP or PA
  • National board certification as an NP or PA
