The Opportunity

As the Distribution Network Capabilities Lead, you will be responsible for design support, implementation and optimization of the distribution network, with a focus on both network strategy and project management at our main US Distribution facility in Louisville, KY. Reporting directly to the Site Head, you are a valued member of the site leadership team that excels in strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, project management and network capability building to ensure efficient delivery of goods to customers, while also managing related projects and initiatives.

What You'll Do

Distribution Network Strategy and Optimization:

  • Work across site leadership and internal stakeholders to develop and implement long-term distribution strategies to meet business goals.

  • Lead the planning and facilitation of strategic workshops for the site leadership team to develop strategic roadmaps, including near-term and long-term objectives by utilizing lean methodologies such as Hoshin Kanari.

  • Collaborate with the commercial organization to analyze market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for network optimization.

  • In collaboration with the Site Head, actively participate, and sometimes lead conversations in various internal communities of excellence regarding warehouse strategy, technology and innovation, inventory management and capability expansions.

  • Support site functional leads in development and alignment of goals and objectives that cascade upwards throughout the organization.

  • Support complex network challenges by utilizing lean methodologies for problem resolution, oftentimes taking the lead role.

  • Through collaboration in internal strategic warehouse communities, evaluate different distribution channels (e.g., direct delivery), analyze network warehouse and distribution capabilities and requirements, support capacity and inventory management strategies to ensure optimal, feasible, and forward-thinking strategies aligned with distribution goals.

  • Partner with site leaders and internal business stakeholders to build annual budget plans regarding transportation, volumes, CAPEX/OPEX, and resources.

  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure distribution network performance.

  • Provide strategic support to internal business process owners in managing inventory levels across the network to optimize storage, minimize costs, and ensure timely delivery of products.

Project Management Leadership:

  • Manage PMO portfolio for the distribution facility with the inclusion of directly managing mid to large scale complex projects.

  • Support the broader organization by utilizing project management practices on an as needed frequency

  • Manage projects from concept through completion, taking accountability for ensuring stated objectives are met. This includes defining project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Monitor and report on project progress, issues, and risks to stakeholders and leadership through utilization of robust communication methodologies.

  • Develop and lead steering committee structure, project charters and senior leadership decision making forums

  • Proactively communicate and take ownership of risks and issues to facilitate effective outcomes.

  • Execute project plans by overseeing task assignments, following up with project personnel, and ensuring alignment with milestones.

  • Effectively collaborate with other departments, such as supply chain, engineering, and IT.

Who You Are

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or Master's) is preferred

  • PMP Certification is desired.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing projects in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years managing large, complex projects, some preferably in an international environment.

  • Extensive experience in distribution network design, optimization, and project management.

  • Proven expertise in effectively applying and/or developing advanced project management tools and methodologies.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and robust stakeholder engagement

Technical Knowledge / Skills / Competencies:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills in strategic planning and project delivery.

  • Proficiency in project management, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.

  • Broad understanding of the principles of various warehouse and supply chain disciplines, with in-depth understanding of pharmaceutical processes and facility design approaches.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards, such as GMP, FDA, ISTA, ASTM, and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).

  • Expertise in inventory management, transportation management, and customer service.

  • Strong understanding of risk-based qualification and Lean Principles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to various stakeholders, including technical teams, management, and external partners

  • Demonstrated capabilities in technology implementation and process improvement.

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical products and their storage and transportation requirements.

Relocation funding is not available for this role.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Louisville, Kentucky is $113,300 - $210,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
