Overview

PIMCO is seeking a highly skilledCompliance Officerto join our Latin America & the Caribbean (LatAm) business within the global Legal and Compliance department. This pivotal role partners closely with the LatAm business unit to implement and oversee the firm's comprehensive compliance program, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations across the region. The Compliance Officer will also collaborate extensively with the broader Legal and Compliance team to uphold PIMCO's global standards. This position can be based in either our Sao Paulo, New York, or Miami office and reports to a New York-based manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primaryCompliance Officerfor PIMCO's LatAm business, serving as a trusted advisor and compliance leader

  • Serve as the designatedRisk Management and Compliance professionalin accordance with Brazil's ICVM 558 regulations

  • Oversee and administer the compliance program for PIMCO LatAm, including supervision of Brazil-based investment products and related services

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce compliance policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing adherence across the business

  • Conduct due diligence and maintain strong relationships with key service providers and external partners

  • Serve as the firm'sregional Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), ensuring day-to-day compliance with AML, economic sanctions, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption (ABC) regulations

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate AML, sanctions, and ABC risks specific to the LatAm business through effective controls and monitoring

  • Prepare and submit timely, accurate reports to LatAm regulators, maintaining compliance with all reporting obligations

  • Manage legal and compliance calendars, records, and documentation to support regulatory requirements and internal audits

  • Contribute to PIMCO's global e-surveillance program, enhancing monitoring and risk detection capabilities

  • Review marketing materials and website content to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies

  • Oversee privacy protocols and short-term trading controls to safeguard firm and client interests

  • Collaborate closely with PIMCO's LatAm business leaders and global Legal and Compliance teams to align strategies and share best practices

  • Stay informed on regulatory developments in the LatAm region and assess potential impacts on compliance and business operations

  • Produce the semi-annual Risk and Compliance report and conduct related risk assessments to inform senior management and stakeholders

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of5+ years of legal and/or compliance experiencewithin a global financial services firm or law practice, with proven expertise in AML, economic sanctions, and/or ABC compliance

  • AJuris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalentpost-secondary education is preferred

  • Prior experience in legal or compliance roles within aninvestment fund managementenvironment is highly desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with regulators and serve as a key point of contact for regulatory matters

  • Exceptionalwritten and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex compliance concepts clearly and persuasively

  • Proven ability to thrive in afast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting quickly to changing business needs

  • Strongteam orientationwith excellent analytical and decision-making skills, fostering collaboration across diverse teams

  • Ability to engage effectively with all levels of management and compliance functions to achieve business and regulatory objectives

  • Aservice-oriented mindset, balancing regulatory requirements with practical business considerations

  • Outstandingorganizational skills, with a track record of prioritizing tasks, delivering accurate work, and meeting tight deadlines consistently

  • Fluency inEnglish and Portugueseis required; proficiency inSpanishis highly advantageous

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
Salary Range: $ 100,000.00 - $ 135,000.00
